After a 32-year career at the bedside, Anita Respondek decided it was time to start her next career, educating the next generation of talented, compassionate respiratory therapists. From her beginning at Southwest Texas State in 1990 to full-time faculty at South Texas College in McAllen, Anita is proud to pass along knowledge and skill to the students who choose to make this beloved profession their own. Currently, she is secretary for the Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas, she is co-sponsor the STC Respiratory Care Student Club, and she participates on the TSRC South Region planning committee. Along with her graduate research partner, Anita was awarded the CoARC James Burton Student Research Scholarship in July of 2023. In December of 2023, she graduated with a Master of Science in Respiratory Care from Texas State University. She enjoys time with Jeff, her husband of 32 years and her two children Kyle and Abbie, and in her spare time, you can find Anita volunteering with Paws Fur Help at the Mission Animal Shelter or somewhere at a concert.
