In 2005, when JJ Valdez MSRC, RRT-ACCS embarked on his college journey, his primary aspiration was to extend his post-high school baseball career. Over time, this ambition evolved, and today, his greatest dream is to inspire the next generation of clinicians to uphold elevated standards in healthcare. With a relentless pursuit of intentional and continual progression, JJ, now a practicing Respiratory Therapist, leverages his expertise in bedside skills, point-of-care ultrasound, and leadership, having played a pivotal role in the respiratory therapy-driven Vascular Access team at Midland Memorial. Notably, he holds the distinction of successfully placing over 150 lines without complications. Recognizing his outstanding contributions, JJ was honored with the 2019 TSRC Practitioner of the Year in Adult Critical Care. His dedication to excellence culminated in the recent achievement of a Master’s degree from Texas State University in Respiratory Care with a focus on leadership, earned in December 2021.
